(01)  —  AZURE & MICROSOFT CLOUD

From the server room to the Microsoft cloud – step by step.

We migrate servers, users, and workstations to Azure: planned, documented, and in a way that keeps your business running. Afterwards we can look after the environment for you.

SERVICES

What we implement in Azure

Microsoft 365 covers email and collaboration. Azure takes over where servers, device management, and disaster recovery used to run in-house.

01 · SERVER

Servers to Azure

Existing servers and applications are migrated to Azure as virtual machines and run there – no hardware needed in the office.

02 · SCHUTZ

Entra ID & Intune

Manage users, sign-in, and devices centrally from the cloud: multi-factor sign-in, policies, and new laptops that set themselves up.

03 · ARBEITSPLÄTZE

Azure Virtual Desktop

Workstations and terminal servers in Azure. Your team works on the same environment from anywhere – including industry software.

04 · RECOVERY

Azure Backup & Site Recovery

Backup in Azure and disaster recovery when a server fails. Tested regularly, not just set up.

Honest advice

Not everything has to move to the cloud

Before any migration we check what makes sense for your business: Azure, Microsoft 365, a hybrid setup, or keeping a server onsite.

Azure is billed monthly based on usage. That is why we estimate the running costs before migrating and compare them with a new server in the office. You decide based on numbers, not buzzwords.

On request your data stays in Microsoft data centres in Switzerland (Switzerland North and West). The migration runs in stages, and we schedule larger changeovers outside your business hours.

APPROACH

How an Azure migration works

  1. 01

    Assessment

Record servers, applications, users, devices, and data volumes.

  2. 02

    Target & costs

Decide what moves to Azure, what goes to Microsoft 365, and what stays local – with an estimate of the monthly costs.

  3. 03

    Migration

Moving in stages, with a test before each changeover and a clear way back.

  4. 04

    Operations

Documentation, handover, and ongoing management of the new environment on request.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between Microsoft 365 and Azure?

Microsoft 365 includes email, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, and the Office apps. Azure is Microsoft's cloud platform for servers, applications, virtual desktops, device management, and backup.

Where is our data stored in Azure?

On request in Microsoft's Swiss data centres (Switzerland North and West). We decide this during planning.

What does Azure cost to run?

That depends on the number and size of servers, the data volume, and usage. Before migrating you receive an estimate of the monthly costs.

Will we no longer need a server in the office?

Often, but not always. Some devices or applications work better locally. We clarify this during the assessment.

Who manages the environment after the migration?

Lightnet, if you wish – as part of ongoing IT management, by effort or with a fixed monthly agreement.
